2011-12 John Sebastian Giguere "Peter Forsberg Retirement Night" Warmup (Meigray)

This is JS Giguere's Forsberg Retirement Night warmup worn sweater worn in warmups the night of October 8th 2011 at the Pepsi Center in Denver Colorado. What a memorable night as I was in attendance for this game to watch Peter Forsberg's #21 get raised to the rafters. Giggy wore this beautiful 58G goalie cut sweater in warmups that night. The Avalanche hosted the rival Detroit Redwings this night, dropping the game 3-0.  It was also the future captain of the Avalanche Gabriel Landeskog's rookie debut.

Forsberg and Giguere nameplates and both signatures are present on the back of the warmup sweater. Typically the way the Avs' have always customized retirement night sweaters of their greatest players

1997-98 Wade Belak Set 1 Home

This is Wade Belak's game worn home sweater from the 1997-98 regular season.  Belak played only 8 games this season with 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points both coming in the same home game against Washington.  Belak accumulated 27 penalty penalty minutes in the eight games made up of mostly fighting majors. The wear on the sweater is very light but staining from blood does exist.  Belak played with 5 different teams throughout his career, and was a beloved teammate and great enforcer in the league.. His life ended in tragedy in 2011 as he suffered from depression.. He committed suicide in a Toronto hotel room by hanging himself.. Belak will never be forgotten by his teammates, the league and fans.

2007-08 Kurt Sauer Set 1 Road 1.0 (MeiGray)

This is defenseman Kurt Sauer's Set 1 road sweater from the 2007-08 season.  Sauer played for the Avalanche for 3 seasons and was a very physical stay at home defenseman.  The sweater is the infamous 1.0 Reebok that the league got rid of fairly quickly after many teams complained about the materials that made up the jersey and that it didn't breathe or wick sweat. The sweater has nice wear and exhibits paint transfer team repairs and marks throughout.. Also the burgundy has bled onto the white fabric of the jersey causing a pink tinge which was common with this set.

His brother Michael Sauer also was a defenseman and played for the New York Rangers.  Both Sauer brother's careers were cut short by concussions.

2005-06 Alex Tanguay Set 2 Home (MeiGray)

This is Alex Tanguay's Set 2 home sweater from the 2005-06 season.  The sweater exhibits terrific game wear with stick marks, puck marks, board burns, unprepared holes and major pilling in the rear hem. This season would prove to be Tanguay's last with the Avs in his first stint with the Avalanche. Tanguay scored 29 goals and added 49 assists for 78 points that season.. He was traded to the Calgary Flames in the offseason for picks that never really panned out.. Turned out to be a bad decision for the Avalanche organization.. I am very excited to add another Tangs to my collection.. IT'S ALWAYS GREAT TO ADD ANOTHER AVS' STANLEY CUP CHAMPION TO MY COLLECTION!
